Diagnostic Assessment

  • Uniquely developed by Bridge Learning for Asian education context
  • Local context where academic standards are generally higher
  • Use a range of criterion-referenced and formal assessments

  • Expert in analysing and observation that contributes to reliable conclusion

Diagnostic / Psychological Assessment

  • No assessment of such scope and content available in Singapore
  • Generally use standardised assessments based on western world figures and education standards
  • Use mainly standard scorings from tabulated tables
  • Some claim doing free Diagnostic Assessment (DA) but is just a reading test/isolated part that is insufficient to tell the whole picture on the child’s learning
  • Tell you whether your child can or cannot read to age
  • Psychological Assessment’s (PA) key is IQ test and IQ is deemed as the main framework for learning ability
  • DA closest to its nature of assessment to Bridge Learning (but still less comprehensive): Est. S$500

One-Stop Centre

  • FIRST one-stop centre for assessment, facilities and intervention services for a wide spectrum of learning difficulties (lds) and Learning Disabilities (LDs)
  • LARGEST and most comprehensive one-stop centre in Singapore based on the range of intervention programmes, size of full-time intervention staff team and range of LDs served
  • PARTNER of Thomson Pediatric Centre who procure our intervention to complement their medical, therapy and psychological services

One-Stop

  • Typically offers only assessment but no intervention services or existing service is for a category/type of LD
  • Usually a one-man show operation or freelancers
  • Facilities, resources and programmes for intervention are not as comprehensive
  • May not get the same specialist/teacher consistently as there is high turnover in the field

Assessment and Intervention Approach

  • Breakthrough Non-Categorical/ Interdisciplinary/Child-Centric assessment and intervention services
  • Focus on child’s characteristics, strengths, weaknesses and abilities
  • Reliable and valid assessment likening to a complete health checkup to ensure/eliminate any possibilities of learning difficulties

  • For children who cannot be formally diagnosed under a category/label or are not severe enough to be classified as having Learning Disability but has mild learning difficulties

Assessment and Intervention Approach

  • Conventional Categorical/Label-focused/Testing-Centric assessment and intervention
  • Label-centric focusing on characteristics/criteria of specific LDs such as ASD, Dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, APD,SI
  • Assessment zooms into specified LD. Good for formal diagnosis for suspected/identified LD
  • Miss out on needs, difficulties and characteristics that are outside of category/label
  • Insufficient evidence, mildness of LD(s) or co-morbidities makes formal diagnosis impossible. Hence, intervention is absent when it is an entry requirement.
  • Not as effective though it has its usage and purposes

Bridge IEI ™

  • One-on-one tailor-made programme
  • Customised for your child’s specific needs
  • Learning, behavioral, social-communication and emotional development can be included
  • For multiple Learning Disabilities/hybrid cases e.g.: Asperger, ADD/ADHD, APD, Dyslexia, SI etc. related
  • Comes with integrated neurotherapy exercises and can be used to supplement OT
  • High value designed programme with your child in mind
  • Eclectic approach using a myriad of strategies, and multi-sensorial activities from integrated mainstream pedagogies and specialised education
  • Highly effective from 2.5 to 12 years (age as guideline)
  • From S$80 onwards

One-on-one/Solo/IEP program

  • Usually are prepared in pre-formatted forms/ standardised development to follow according to the child’s age/level. Useful in its own ways also.
  • Limited area(s) of needs met as it is not tailor-made
  • Therapy is a separate programme on its own and comes with additional fees
  • Usually adopt one method of teaching/set of activities
  • Progress is usually limited for younger children or to a certain stage
  • Usually only available for up to 6 years old
  • Private Sector: Est. S$100-250 per hour
  • VWO/Charity Sector: Est. S$90-S$95 per hour
  • Normal Tuition By Teacher-Tutor: Est. S$50-S$100 per hour (not specialised intervention)

Dyslexia / Reading Intervention

  • Bridge Reading ™ is the equivalent group programme
  • Bridge Literacy ™ is the advanced programme for language development covering the major exam components
  • Focus on significant components relevant to such intervention such as comprehension, grammar, etc.
  • S$400-S$420 per term (before subsidies)

Dyslexia/ Reading Intervention

  • Mainly focus on phonological development, visual and auditory drills for phonemes and words only
  • VWO/Charity Sector: Est. S$488-S$535 per term (after government subsidies)

Daily Group Programme

  • Bridge School Readiness Programme ™ (BSRP) comprises of 6 Bridge intensive intervention programmes
  • Engage children with lots of hands-on activities throughout the 3 hours!
  • S$62.50 per lesson (before subsidies)

Daily Group Programme

  • May not deliver the sort of therapy and intervention said
  • Some leave the kids to be on their own or to do what they want in isolation, without real intervention work

Auditory Processing

  • Bridge AuditoryPro ™ is the intervention for attention, auditory processing and phonological development
  • Structured development with delivery method and frequency tested for steady progress and prevent regression
  • Secret recipe integrated to concretise brain development and auditory processing for lasting improvement
  • S$460 per term (before subsidies)

Auditory Processing

  • Dependent on multimedia alone for auditory processing development
  • Claims of improvement within a short time
  • High regression rate once programme stops

 

Art Classes / Therapy

  • Bridge Art’EQ ™ successfully integrates art processes with EQ development for purposeful development in children
  • Focus on fine motor skills, visual-motor coordination, social-emotional and behavioural development
  • Facilitated with structured skill-based 4-year curriculum
  • S$350 per term (before subsidies)

Art Classes/ Therapy

  • Focus on art techniques development
  • Artistic products with aesthetic appeal usually as main outcome/goal
  • May not have structured curriculum with purposeful development

Occupational Therapy (OT) / Gym

  • Bridge NeuroGym ™ is the ingenious integration of brain development, sensory-motor integration activities and motor-skills circuits
  • Maximise the essence of specialised education, therapy and mainstream development
  • Benefit and enhance learning abilities for all children, especially for children with lds/LDs
  • S$30 per session (before subsidies)

*Please note that an occupational therapist/physiotherapist is still required if the child’s needs are more severe

Occupational Therapy (OT)/Gym

  • Usually seems like exclusive activities for special needs children but there are overlapping activities between OT and gym for all kinds of children
  • OT usually may ask parents/caregivers to do the OT activities with children at home. Many of the activities can be done by other caregivers.
  • More expensive, long queue and may not offer ideal frequency for better progress, e.g.: only once a fortnight/month, only few sessions given
  • Est. $85 per session
