Diagnostic / Psychological Assessment
- No assessment of such scope and content available in Singapore
- Generally use standardised assessments based on western world figures and education standards
- Use mainly standard scorings from tabulated tables
- Some claim doing free Diagnostic Assessment (DA) but is just a reading test/isolated part that is insufficient to tell the whole picture on the child’s learning
- Tell you whether your child can or cannot read to age

- DA closest to its nature of assessment to Bridge Learning (but still less comprehensive): Est. S$500

| Assessment and Intervention Approach
- Breakthrough Non-Categorical/ Interdisciplinary/Child-Centric assessment and intervention services
- Focus on child’s characteristics, strengths, weaknesses and abilities
- Reliable and valid assessment likening to a complete health checkup to ensure/eliminate any possibilities of learning difficulties
- Holistically view child’s needs cross-categorically
- For children who cannot be formally diagnosed under a category/label or are not severe enough to be classified as having Learning Disability but has mild learning difficulties
- Practical and effective
- Up to date teaching methodology available in many developed countries
|
Assessment and Intervention Approach
- Conventional Categorical/Label-focused/Testing-Centric assessment and intervention
- Label-centric focusing on characteristics/criteria of specific LDs such as ASD, Dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, APD,SI
- Assessment zooms into specified LD. Good for formal diagnosis for suspected/identified LD
- Miss out on needs, difficulties and characteristics that are outside of category/label
- Insufficient evidence, mildness of LD(s) or co-morbidities makes formal diagnosis impossible. Hence, intervention is absent when it is an entry requirement.
- Not as effective though it has its usage and purposes
- Traditional approach getting outdated
